Floor Repair Services in Calgary AB
While we're refinishing hardwood floors, we often come across aged wood that needs to be replaced and repaired before we can refinish it. All is not lost if a few of the board on your floor have become damaged and are starting to peel, rot, or bend. In many cases, we can remove the old planks and put new ones in.
Hardwood Floor Repair Process
First we identify while boards need to be repaired in the home. There are many signs that can contribute to the need to repair your hardwood floor. You can consider repairing the board if they are:
- Cracked
- Rotting
- Have very deep gouges
- Splitting
- Showing holes
We will then remove the board by cutting it between the points where it is still in tact. With a new space to work with, we clean out the area where the new board will sit so that it is 100% flush at the end. Taking the time to get this exactly right is so important for ensuring a perfect finished product.
Once the board is in place, we can sand the edges and coat the floor with the colour of your choice. We always recommend that if you're repairing a part of the floor, that you refinish the rest of the room so that it looks uniform and there will be no parts standing out. It is incredibly difficult and nearly impossible to repair a single section of the floor and make it look perfect without refinishing the other parts.
We try to find boards that are as similar in colour to the rest of the floor. However, sometimes it isn't possible to find planks that are exactly the same and they will show a little bit of a different colour when we're finished. This can sometimes add a little bit of an accent feel to the room and many times, our customers say they don't even notice the new boards.
If you have multiple boards on your floor that need to be replaced but don't want to totally install new hardwood floors, then we are here to help. We'll ensure that the best job possible is done to the floor so that you can enjoy that glistening, beautiful, rich look that we all love hardwoods for. We also recommend hardwood floor refinishing for the whole room to make sure everything looks perfect.
